According to the Decree of President of Turkmenistan № 1148 dated February 22, 2019 "On the construction of Airport in Kerki of Lebap province", the airport under construction in Kerki of Lebap region has been registered as International airport and assigned the four-letter code UTAE by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the specialized organization of the United Nations.
This important event was announced on May 28, 2021 by Stephen P. Creamer, Director of Air Navigation Bureau of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The opening of Kerki Airport in Lebap region is scheduled for June 2021.
